My Crochet Journey
Since I was a child, I’ve always been drawn to crafting and art. You could say it runs in my blood—many in my family are artists and handcrafters, so my love for creating feels more like a birthright than a hobby. I come from a rich legacy of talent: grandparents and grandmothers who were rug weavers, silversmiths, painters, bead workers, quilters, and jewelry makers—some of whom even made it all the way to the Smithsonian!
But interestingly enough, my journey with crochet didn’t come from that lineage. It began during a visit to Arizona, when my now mother-in-law, Melanie Turner Dye, shared that she had always hoped to pass down her crochet skills to someone in the family. With three sons not too eager to pick up a hook and yarn, I jumped at the chance. I owe her so much for her endless patience, her willingness to guide me through every question and mistake, and for generously sharing her craft. I’m forever grateful for her knowledge and mentorship.
My hope is that by inviting you into my work, I can pass on a little of that joy and creativity—just as it was passed down to me.
